How To Remain Healthy While Working Remotely

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, working at home has become commonplace for many people across all industries.
Unfortunately, there are several potential health pitfalls for those who work remotely. Aside from eliminating certain forms of incidental exercise, remote work can also make it easier for blokes to engage in unhealthy eating habits.
That said, we have a few hacks that we reckon will help you avoid those hazards. Let's check them out.
Replace Sugary Drinks With Water And Tea
This really shouldn’t come as a surprise. Soft drinks like cola and lemonade are linked to type 2 diabetes, weight gain and cardiovascular issues due to the sheer amount of sugar they contain. To ensure that you stay hydrated and healthy, opt for water, soda water, unsweetened black tea or coffee.

Set A Meal Schedule
People who work at home may not be as strict with their schedule as those who work in the office. Think about it: in an office, people generally have lunch around the same time and may even have snack breaks at similar times.
The peer pressure simply isn’t there at home, meaning you’re probably more likely to take multiple haphazard lunch and snack breaks. If you’re worried that you’re eating more often at home, create a schedule and lock in specific times that are dedicated to eating (for example, lunchtime at 1pm and a coffee break at 3pm).
Likewise, if you have regular online contact with a co-worker, ask them to help hold you accountable by reminding you of your schedule.
Reduce Snacking With Meal Prep
Meal prep involves preparing your weekly meals ahead of time, splitting them into portions, freezing them and eating them individually as the week progresses.
Meal prep is ideal for people on a weight loss journey, as well as those working from home, because it reduces your reliance on takeaway and hastily thrown together meals and also allows you to control the portion size.
Most experts reckon that the best time to prepare meals is during the weekend when people generally have more time to whip up a few meals in bulk.

Eat Only When You’re Hungry And Not Out Of Boredom
Eating out of boredom is a real danger for people who work from home, particularly when they’re on a break.
Just because you take a break from work doesn’t mean you have to eat. If you take a break, rather than eating, do some chores or go for a stroll around the block. Hopefully, these activities will keep you occupied and distract you from food.
Stock Your Pantry And Fridge Solely With Healthy Food
You can’t eat what you don’t have right? One great benefit of working from home is that you don’t have to pass any shops on your way to work and aren’t tempted by sugary treats on supermarket displays.
However, this means nothing if you have a stack of chocolate bars in your cupboard.
With that in mind, the next time you go shopping, don’t buy any junk food. Opt instead for fresh fruit and vegetables, so when snack time comes around, the only options available are all healthy!
Also remember to stock up on some Man Shake (shameless plug, we know).
Make Your Kitchen And Eating Space Comfortable
Are you a reluctant chef? Could it be because your kitchen is an unattractive place to be? Would you be more likely to cook if you enjoyed standing in your kitchen?
Make your kitchen a fun and easy place to be by organising your utensils, spices and other equipment so they’re simple to find.
Likewise, try putting a radio in there, so you can listen to some tunes while cooking.
Additionally, try to designate a comfortable place for eating your lunch. Let’s face it, eating at your desk sucks, so maybe try a comfy chair or perhaps a balcony with a nice view if you have one.
Delete Your Takeaway Apps
Apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats have made it way too easy for us to order takeaway these days.
To reduce your reliance on potentially unhealthy meals from takeaway joints, delete these food delivery apps from your phone and start preparing your food yourself.

Exercise At Home
Believe it or not, it's relatively easy to create your own home gym.
No, we're not suggesting you splurge on an expensive set of weights or a bunch of exercise machines. It's very easy to create a home gym of sorts by using a bunch of household items including, a backpack, detergent bottles, tinned foot, a laundry basket and more.
