Joel McCrindle lost 29kg in 14 months, but that doesn’t mean he’s skipping out on the food he likes.

There are many products to help lose weight, but getting on The Man Shakes and still enjoying tasty food has by far been the best weight loss diet for Joel.

What works for Joel is to stick to the same routine during the day and enjoy a nice meal with lots of variety with his family at night.

On the weekends, Joel and his kids often cook up “Fakeaways”, healthy and nutritious takes on the junky takeaway food they love.

Joel’s Day on a Plate for long-term weight loss
  • 10am: Long Black with a dash of oat milk + The Man Shake - I currently have the limited-edition choc banana.
  • 1pm: Fruit and Veg plate + Long Black with a dash of oat milk. Sometimes I also have rice cakes with peanut butter.
  • 4pm: The Man Shake, usually the Choc Mint or Choc Honeycomb Crunch
  • 6:30pm: Dinner - we love curries, satay, spaghetti bolognese or a “Fakeaway” on the weekend
  • 7:30pm: Natural yogurt with chia seeds and frozen mixed berries


Chicken Burger w/ Sweet Potato Fries

Serves 4

Ingredients

Burgers:
  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 wholegrain, high protein buns (or Tip Top burger buns)
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 red onion
  • Chipotle pickles (as you please)
  • Spinach leaves (as you please)
  • Sauce of your choice
Sweet potato chips:
  • 2 big sweet potatoes
  • Extra virgin oil
  • Salt
  • Paprika powder

Method

  1. Cut up the chicken breast in sizes that suit your family (smaller for kids, bigger for adults)
  2. Pan fry the chicken breast in extra virgin olive oil until it’s ready to go
  3. Add toppings to the burger buns, we usually spread avocado on the bottom, then layer with Chipotle pickles, red onion and spinach leaves
  4. Top with the chicken breasts and sauce of choice - I like a thin layer of a spicy or a garlic aioli
  5. For the sweet potato chips, cut the sweet potato into the size chips you want
  6. Spray extra virgin olive oil, to give them a coat
  7. Sprinkle with paprika powder and salt
  8. Cook them in the air fryer for 15 mins
