Like Any Sporting Contest, You Need A Game Plan

Like any sporting contest, you need a game plan.

If you’ve played sport at any level, you know you need a game plan. You need decide on tactics, find motivation and stay on course to the end. Most of all, you need a mindset that’s focussed on winning.

Here’s how that applies to losing weight:

Decide your tactics early

Failing to plan is planning to fail. So, whether you’re a week or a year into your weight loss journey, write down the main reason you want to lose weight. Make it somewhere you’ll see it over and over again. It’s on your phone’s unlock screen. Or add a tag to your car keys. We’ve even heard of blokes writing it on the mirror.

Set your daily food routine

What you eat is the most important part of losing weight. It’s more important than exercise. Crucially, say ‘NO’ to the excuses. But accept it’s going to be tough. There will be days when you really believe that a loaf of fresh bread has your name on it.

This is somewhere to start:

  • Man Shake in the morning
  • Snack mid-morning
  • Man Shake for lunch (mix it up with a different flavour)
  • Mid afternoon snack
  • Healthy dinner (not a huge portion)
  • If you need dessert try yoghurt with berries or an ice cream scoop with a fruit salad.

Importantly, just like the players, you need to keep hydrated. Get a good drink bottle and drink 2L of water a day. Particularly, if you are still hungry after a Man Shake wait 20 mins – it takes your brain 20 mins to register you are full.

Move more

Don’t go too hard too early on exercise. If you start by seeing working out as a chore then you’re less likely to continue. Go for a walk. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Get a pedometer and look at your step count. Then build gradually.

Shift your mindset

No sporting team ever runs on the field thinking; “This aint going to work”. Take it from Adam - This will work. Set your mind to it. Think about the benefits. Rip into it and you will WIN.
