Adam, 45, from Maclean NSW
I've always found it hard to get motivated to lose weight. As a result of a workplace knee injury, I couldn't do much for a while there and piled on the kilos. Depression kicked in too, so it was a tough time.
In my 30's and early 40's, I sat around 100kg pretty consistently, which wasn't where I wanted to be. Before my injury, I kept putting it off until 'next week', saying I'd find a diet and get back to what I was like in my 20's when I was around 88kg.
The final straw for me was walking into the local surf shop looking for clothes and walking out with my head down. I couldn't even fit into any of the clothes in the store. I knew something had to change because if I didn't start losing weight I was only going to get bigger and bigger.
Getting Started
I was walking through the local IGA soon after and spotted The Man Shake. I had tried diets the past like Tony Ferguson, Atkins, and random juice diets, but they all did very little for me. I was pretty desperate to lose weight though, so I thought I'd give it a go... the worst that could happen was that it wouldn't work.I found A LOT of support on the Man Shake Facebook page and quickly figured out it wasn't just a diet, it's a lifestyle change for the better. In The Man Shake Men group, it really motivated me to see everyone else on their own weight loss journey supporting one another.
I started out following The Man Plan and having 2 shakes a day with a couple snacks and dinner, and now I've reached my goal I've cut back to one a day and maintain it. I found they were so convenient and I actually like them with a few crushed ice cubes.
Once I got into it mentally, I loved it. It's no longer hard, it's just my lifestyle now and I wouldn't change it for anything, I feel and eat better than ever. I actually look forward to the healthy food I'm eating now, and I still enjoy a few beers a week with mates.
I lost 24kg with The Man Shake
I'm a very keen surfer, and since losing the weight I'm surfing like I'm in my 20s again! It's so much easier and I've genuinely wound back the clock. Not just that, but I'm just a whole better version of myself - a better dad, a better husband, and a better person. My GP is amazed at my transformation, as are my friends and family. I got some tests done out of curiosity and they all came back perfectly! I'm now 87kg and feel fantastic.
What would you say to other guys thinking of giving it a go?
For anyone wanting to try this, I'd tell them to read the stories on the website, read my story. Look at the pics, if I can do it so can you!
