Gerard Lockyer lost 35kgs on his Man Shake Journey
Share
Hey there, I’m Gerard, and I started The Man Shake in November 2021 when I weighed 144.4kg.
I used to ask myself, “How did I let myself reach this weight?” I hated how big I had become. I would wear 5XL shirts to hide my size, avoiding anything that felt tight. I had tried other meal replacement shakes, but when I discovered The Man Shake ads, they inspired me to give it a try. I’ve never looked back since then, and I still use the shakes today.
My journey has had its ups and downs.
A big win was getting close to my goal weight of 100kg. The lowest I saw on the scale was 100.7kg. But to me, it felt like a loss because I hadn’t quite reached my goal. It threw me off track and I became depressed, losing my motivation to exercise and eat right. I lost my mindset and the discipline that came with it. As you can imagine, the numbers on the scale started going up again, and my depression, self-hatred, and disgust returned.
Luckily, I was able to turn it all around.
When I saw the scale go up, the fire that had ignited it all came back! I snapped out of it and regained my mindset. I knew it would be tough, but I was determined to bring the numbers on the scale down again. I had to fight off that depressing feeling. I pushed myself to be stronger and show those around me that I’m still positive and committed to my journey.
I still struggle with my mindset.
Right now, I weigh 109kg. Finding balance is a challenge, and there are days when it gets the better of me and I indulge in unhealthy foods. But now, those moments don't break me. I pick myself up and use my motivation to get back on track and reach my goal weight, feeling good about myself.
In the past, my routine involved having two shakes a day along with other food to meet my calorie intake, or sometimes I would just have two shakes and bars. Currently, I'm on a calorie deficit of 2400 when I'm training (weights and cardio), and I decrease it to 2000 when I'm not training.
I absolutely love the chocolate, banana, coffee, choc mint, and peanut butter choc crunch flavours. I enjoy coming up with new shake combinations like choc strawberry, coffee choc, and choc banana. I started by purchasing the Ultimate Weight Loss Pack and later switched to the Buy 3 Get 1 Free Bundle. I usually buy a large quantity, so I don't have to worry about running out.
If I could give any advice to someone starting The Man Shake
It would be to take it one step at a time. Experiment with the flavours to find your favourites and try mixing them together. You can even incorporate them into foods like oats or Weetbix if you need extra calories for weight training. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with this product. It keeps you full, and the Man Bars are awesome. They even have a vegan option. And if your partner wants to join in, there's The Lady Shake too.
So don't hesitate, get started and give it a go!
