Tim - 10 Years On & Still 42kg Lighter
Share
This year The Man Shake marks it’s 10 years and, as we look back, we wanted to catch up with some of our original Shakers like Tim.
Tim was one of our first big success stories with his incredible 42kg weight loss.
Hey everyone.
I’m Tim and I have been using The Man Shake for 10 years.
I’ll give you a quick bit of background, however you can read my story HERE.
I had always been quite active and was playing sports professionally, however, as I stopped competing I found myself no longer focussing on my health.
One night I was scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad for The Man Shake, made an order the next day, and the rest is history.
But what have I been up to since?
I wanted to use my weight loss as inspiration for more men to discuss weight loss and in addition how this is helping them with their life in general. So, after having discussions with Adam MacDougall in 2018, I started the first Man Shake community group. I wanted a non-biased platform for the guys to discuss how they were going and to support and encourage. It has been a great and true pleasure to have created a platform for guys to share their journeys, warts and all.
To this day I still have two shakes a day. They are just so convenient and I genuinely love the taste.
My favourite hasn’t changed. I still swear by 1 scoop Coffee, ½ scoop Chocolate, ½ scoop Vanilla, ice, and blend.
It has been wonderful to see the introduction of all the new flavours over the years. All of these new items have continued to help us to become better versions of ourselves.
If I were to share any advice to new Shakers, I would encourage them to set achievable goals.
We all want to get to the top of the mountain as quickly as possible, but nothing will stop you in your tracks and demotivate you like an unrealistic goal.
To clarify, I mean you should aim to lose around half a kilo a week and be proud of this!
Stick at it and the results come. Remember that it took you however long to put the weight on so don't expect miracles, set realistic goals and celebrate the little wins.
As a large guy, when I started my journey I would have been going from eating and drinking probably 5000 calories a day (minimum 15 schooners a day and two pizzas or KFC) to 1800.
It was extremely difficult. But if you are in a similar position to me, just stay consistent with everything you do.
When you are at a party, I always have a Man Shake before I go to fill me up but it still allows me to have a few little treats without doing much damage.
Adam reinforced to me that a treat meal once a week was really important. I hear a lot of people, influencers etc refer to this as a “cheat meal” but you are not actually cheating yourself, you are treating yourself. It is a reward for your hard work!
Finally, remember you are going to slip up but don't be so hard on yourself when you do, just accept you have had a bad day on the food or drink and start fresh the next day.
