Jake Lost 63kgs To Keep Up With His Kids

We have an update on Jake's weight loss journey, but first, let's take a look back at his story.
Hi, I’m Jake and this is my Man Shake story so far.
In November 2022 I looked into the mirror, and I didn’t like who was looking back at me. They had no energy and little to no self-confidence.
I wanted to be able to keep up with the kids.
I am a father of twins who, at this time, had just turned three and were full of all the energy in the world. I wanted to be able to take them to places and make sure they do not miss out because of me.
So, I bit the bullet and jumped on the scales. I honestly was not surprised by the number that I saw but I was very concerned. I weighed in at 155.4 kgs.
Enough was enough.
I knew I needed to do this for not only me but ultimately for my family. I want to be a good example to them all and be around them as they grow older.
In mid-December I started with The Man Shake. I started slowly and built up my routine over time knowing that I had to start somewhere. But fast-forward to August 2023 and I have lost a total of 42.6 kgs.
I reached my goal and more.
I had originally set a target of losing 30kgs thinking that it would take me some time, but now I believe I can hit a new target of 55kg by Christmas. I have achieved goals aside from dropping kgs. I have so much more energy. It’s back! I feel heaps better, I’ve dropped three sizes in pants and three sizes in shirts. But most importantly, I have been able to change my habits for the better.
My current routine is
- 5:00 AM - Wake up
- 5:15 AM - 6-7km jog/walk
- 7:00 AM - Coffee
- 8:30 AM - Breakfast shake
- 10:30 AM - Two pieces of fruit
- 12:30 PM - Lunch shake
- 3:00 PM - Man bar and a piece of fruit
- 6:00 PM - Dinner and dessert (usually some yoghurt)
- 7:00 PM - 6-7km jog/walk
Friday is treat meal night where we usually have pizza (homemade, of course). On weekends I tend to go for bigger walks or also a bike ride when I can. I also lift weights, but it is not something I do a lot. I do plan on doing more moving forward though. Sunday is my sleep in day, but I still make sure to complete my fitness schedule.
My favourite flavours would have to be
I commonly get these flavours with the Fast Weight Loss Pack alongside the boxes of Man Bars. I like to get all different flavours with the bars, specifically Chunky Choc, Hazelnut and Choc Mint.
I feel fantastic
After using the shakes, I feel fantastic. Even after I reach my weight loss, I still plan on having a Shake for my lunch throughout the week. It’s too easy to have on the go to give up!
If I was to pass on any words of inspiration for anyone about to start their Man Shake journey, it would be to stick with it because the reward is great! The first two to three weeks are the hardest part of your transition into the journey. The other would be plateaus but if you can push through these you will succeed.
UPDATE
In September 2023 I tore my meniscus, and my knee was locked in place needing surgery. I couldn’t exercise and was stressed about putting some weight back on. Thankfully, I stuck to my two shakes a day and a diet of around 1400-1600 calories a day and continued to lose weight!
I ended up hitting my year weight loss target in December of 60kg. I managed to use The Man Shake in a maintenance diet for the following two months and my weight stayed the same which was great.
I am now back to about 1800-2000 calories a day with increased exercising to lose an additional 5-8kg in preparation for a half marathon later this year.
Also enjoying my new job as a wind service technician.
The proof is in the pudding, The Man Shake still works!
