After his weight crept up on him like a fart in the night, Louis decided enough was enough
About 3 weeks after my 45th birthday, I jumped on the scales for the first time in years and got the shock of my life. I'd hit 115kg! It had crept up on me like a fart in the night. I was truly disgusted with myself. I knew I was gaining weight, but not that much. I doom scrolled through some older photos and realised what happened. Since 2016, I'd gone from wearing size 34 pants and M/L shirts to size 38 pants and XL/XXL shirts. I decided
enough is enough.
I had seen The Man Shake on a few Facebook ads that popped up but have always been sceptical of weight loss products. I saw it again after this realisation and thought 'Bugger it!' and bought my first order: 4 bags of The Man Shake and Chocolate Super Greens.
I read a bit about the shake and joined The Man Shakers group on Facebook. It was in this group that I got more info on calorie deficit and very quickly went down the rabbit hole. It was a good trip though! By Christmas, I was under a 100kg by a few grams, and I just kept going. I eventually hit 92kg by mid-April 2025!
With all of this going on, my wife and I started walking which led to some leisurely jogs followed by some more competitive jogging, chasing the stopwatch. I started maintaining my weight at this point.
In late-August 2025, we joined the gym and are now doing 3 gym sessions, 1 long walk and 2-3 5-10km runs a week. I have gained about 6kg in this time being in the gym, which I hope is mostly muscle, as none of my other measurements have gone up 😁. I sleep better, I feel better and recently had full blood tests done and the tests came back telling me I have the internal workings of a 36 year old!
My life is better... Thank you to The Man Shake and The Man Shakers community!
Here, Louis shares more about his routine, his favourite shake flavours, and the moments that made his transformation so memorable.
1. What was your routine with The Man Shake? Any favourite flavours or flavour combos?
I had a 9am Shake, 1pm Shake and a good healthy chicken salad or something similar. I calorie count everything with MyFitnessPal app and drink lots of water! Best combo for me is 1 scoop of Strawberry and 1 scoop of Birthday cake - it has a slight cheesecake flavour to it.
2. Did you have anyone in your corner – mates, family, or a coach – who kept you motivated?
A body building colleague was supportive of me early on. He pushed me at first, loved hearing my results and would check in almost daily. Then The Man Shakers started supporting me too when I would post results. It's such a great group of guys and I think a critical part of The Man Shake.
3. Can you share a memorable moment or win from your journey?
My wife and I walked into a clothing store. I needed new cargo shorts so grabbed a pair of 38s. I thought, "nah, I should be a 36 by now" so I grabbed the 36 and walked to the dressing room. My wife followed me and shoved a pair of 34s in my hands. I laughed and she made me a bet that if the 34 fits I owed her a coffee. Well, I had to buy her a coffee... cause they fit! I loved that moment.
4. What’s your routine with The Man Shake look like now? How do
you still use it?
The Man Shake is still my go to for breakfast and lunch. I don't snack during the day, but have a healthy dinner that's slightly more "normal" now than when I started my weight loss journey. I am not so focused on macro counting at the moment because of all the gym work I am doing, I just check the number of calories I'm consuming.
5. How do you feel now after using The Man Shake?
I'm very grateful, I have a new lease on life!
6. Any words of inspiration for anyone looking to get started with The Man Shake?
For me, it starts in the kitchen with what I eat and drink. I lost so much weight before I started with weight training. I'd focus on the kitchen, getting out walking, jogging, and then if you want, weight training. Just do it!
